Yesterday was just the type of day that I absolutely live for in every aspect. The wind was doable, and it wasn't too hot. The water temperature is still a bit chilly but soon people will be playing in the river. I didn't see that bird until after we took the picture and he noticed us, but instead of flying away we all shared the coolnest of the water.

It's been quite awhile since I sat down and wrote anything at all. There are many reasons why some dull and some not so boring. Mainly the job I was working at had me so very exhausted that it was all I could do just to walk home only to collapse onto the couch and recuperate . Let's see where I am today ; First and foremost on the personal level it's been "Ten Months of Clean and Sober". It hasn't been easy but so far so good. I could expound upon the barrage of commercials, (that I never really noticed before) that try to promote their product thrusting into my subconscious. Then there's my favorite morning news program that is always selecting the "Best Wine of the Day" , I try not to start out my day thinking of wine, and if I do have wine on my mind it's usually sounds like this; "I wanna go to Miami Beach". !!!!! ******I was going to buy a car with my "Uncle Bush" money then I changed my mind and I got a horse instead....********** Actually, I got a new computer and a little scooter. The computer goes faster than the computer.*********************************************************. . The cat is doing great! He's learned to cover his business which is a good thing , the reason that he came to live with us is because other people didn't have the time to work with him , instead they would toss him out into the cold snowy night. It didn't take long at all for Artemis to get it right. I came home from work early one night and he growled at me. He's become quite the watch cat. \\\\\\\His latest trick is to slap me a high five!\\\\////\\\\\////////////\\\\\\\\\\\////

Well that is about all that has been going on with me . I could mention Big Brown but why? Then again I could go on about Hillary but why? Maybe if Hillary had taken Big Brown's steriods she'd still be in the race and Big Brown could be Obama's running mate.

The other day while driving around town doing errands, I got a little attitude going because the car in front of me had her dog at the sterring wheel. I'm yelling at her;"If they wanted dogs to drive they would have issused 'em dog licsense!!! Then it hit me oh, they did!!!
I slipped and fell on the ice yesterday morning,man, did that hurt, I thought about putting ice on my bruised hip but then I remembered that I didn't need to I fell on the ice. I'm glad no one saw me esp. when the trash can lid took advantage of me and conked me on the head while I wasn't looking.
Last week it was really windy here, gust up to 65 mph. The day before that though I was out picking up trash in the work parking lot with my happy little yellow cart midget size over by the frozen Platte river when a gust of wind grabbed my cart and off into the river it went. Too bad there wasn't a video going caused I'm sure that would have been pretty funny watching me retrive that cart, what a battle that was.
Artemis woke me up this morning at my usually time to get up my bad, I forgot to tell him I wasn't going to work until later today. Good to know that my cat knows when I 'm suppose to be up, just in case the electricty goes out.

This has been quite a year, not just for me but for all of us. My Christmas wish is that we all take the time to enjoy our famlies and loved ones and the time we have to share with them.
This next week will be so busy for me I'll not even have time to think or even blink. I'm not wild about how commericalized this Season has becomed I just try to take a deep breath and stay out of the stores unless it's imperative that I go. (usually means being dragged there)!!!
I'm hoping I can find a real sleigh-ride here in Casper to go on I think it would be awesome.

Thank you "God" for allowing me not to be caught up in the after Thanksgiving Day sales. I am grateful for my health, home and loved ones and my "Blog-Friends", and a job. I'd decided not to bother with a picture since it will be all over the news to night anyway. Besides this is the only time I get to sleep in so why would I willing give that up to stand in the cold and come home with 50% chance of a bad attitude? Oh, and if you didn't get your eight year old a Wii maybe they need to learn to play with other kids their age and not be isolated . Old school thinking I know and nope I don't have any children and if I did they would be involed in activities not video games or "MY SPACE".

I have no clue why I'm thinking about going fishing, I can't stand to touch a worm or any other kind of bait. Then if I should catch a fish I sheik in terror at the thought of having to unhook it.
The only reason I had this thought is because the mural on the Cafe Trieste wall has all these locals at the seashore bragging about their catch.
The only thing (s) I like about fishing is skinny dipping to cool off esp. when we have the lake all to ourselves,or reading a book under a shade tree, and not returning home until it's way after dark.
I don't like cleaning 'em, but I do like catfish and hush puppies, Cole slaw and sun made tea.
Well, now I have talked myself into a good old fashion fish dinner tonight, MM.

Fantastic day at the beach and just about anywhere else you went today. I actually have time to post something but wouldn't you know I can't think of anything at all. Thrusday I went all the way down to Bay Meadows to place my bet on "Street Sense", the agent told me I had to come back on Friday. Well, you know by the time Friday got here I had spent the money....
Soooo, Friday finally arrived and M. says at 1:30 let's go place that bet. The problem was that we were going to a Track 'n Field meet and that was happening at 3, one of our friends her daughter was running.
Well, we stop off to take care of an errand.
Out of nowhere I just fell down.
M. said I was very gracefull at it, matter of fact she'd never seen anyone take five minutes to fall down.
We didn't make it to the track, either one of them.
M. tells me to call a friend to see which horse he's picking, I say "Why?"
Anyway you know the rest of how this played out.
Unhun---- So I go to the local "Sit and Spin" to wash the hall and bathroom rug because I got over excited when "MY HORSE" won (I really have to stop drinking)
on the way back I begin to smell money, I look to my left and there it is just waiting for me.
Guess what it's the Forty Bucks I would have won if hadn't jumped the gun by going to the racetrack on the wrong day.

Sunday was spent at the Botantical Gardens and this is just one of the many beautiful flowers that are in bloom right now. The fog came in and it got kinda chilly so we left and went to beer bust to warm up. Any reason is a good reason for beer!!! I sorta didn't know what to do with myself since I didn't have to be good and could actually enjoy the day. It seemed strange not having to rest in the middle of the day. I think I can get used to this.

Hooray!!! After being sick for two weeks with the second round of bronkitis, finding out from a third doctor that I do have loss of hearing in the left ear and yes there still is an infection going on in there, what medicine would I like to clear this up? "I'm sorry I didn't catch that." Yep, I got to tell the doctor what I wanted, damnit! (Wish I'd known before I had the appointment.) I have a few happy items I could have used a refill on.... Oh the hell with it!
So after I returned to work I got brave and told the boss, "Look this is what I'm going to do from now on", and you know what they said, are you sitting down? "Sure, anything you want Miss Skye". Okay, damnit! Wish I'd known that before I marched in like General Sherman on a mission. "Oh the hell with it!"
So now I don't do a double shift on Sunday any more, my health is too important to me. I'm afraid if I get sick again it will go into new-moan-ya! (yes I know i missed spelled it). So today being my first Sunday off in over five years, I'm taking Maria to the S.F. Botanical Gardens, hopefully I'll get some cool pictures. Gawd, it's not even 6 a.m. and I'm already off work for 3 days. About time they started treating me better, Lord knows I deserve it.

I have a couple of friends that I recently met and you know what ,they take care of dogs that have all sorts of problems. The problems can vary from; well you name it ,and the dogs could have that problem. Anyway, This one little guy they had there had a tooth problem and he was very aggressive about who got to pet him, also he couldn't see where he was going and would bump into the furniture, the other dogs,people.
They got him to the vet. took care of his sore mouth problem, he got a new hair cut, and guess what. The next time we saw him we didn't even recognise him . We both thought he was a new addition to the group. Then last Sat. he went back to the vet for a follow up visit then they came over to the house. A day or so later we swing by their place because M. had forgotten her orchid, and the little guy ran to greet us. He was all smiles and was actually showing his little bottom teeth just grinning from ear to ear. At one point he was standing really close to me and M. told me not to get any ideas on adopting him, we have enough animals to 'take care of, I had to promise not to get attached to him.

and I plan to open up a chain of Drive-In Movies Screens. Yep, that is what America needs right now, getting back to basics. Who cares what's playing on the big screen and the kids are spinning around on the merry-go-round and the windows are all fogged up! America needs to get back to basics, a little love making at the drive-in was damn good. I honnestly can say I went to more movies and never saw one scene of any of them. ...I must be feeling better my mind is thinking some strange thoughts these days. Basically I'm just trying not to focus on all the negative crap in the world today. My mind is wondering around thinking about wouldn't it be nice if today's kids could grow up in a world were the worse thing they did was go to a Friday night drive-in movie!

The strangest thing occured to me last night. We have got to quit feeding the refrigator it's keeps getting taller than me. It seems like the more food that is in there the higher it gets. I guess it's time to find me the right step stool! Then later we went to Rite Aid and they said that they're putting a Starbucks in next door along side the new hardware store. I'm thinking, "Oh great, get'em jacked up and watch'em build a house"! We get home and the phone rings a friend tells me she's horny , so to sorta change the subject I asked her what her favorite movie was, she replies, "A Man For All Seasons"...
A few nights ago I'm driving along minding my own business and I see this deer over at the ATM machine, she was trying to get a buck!
Sunday we take a ride up to the wine country, it was beautiful hot and humid. We stop off in this old hotel saloon, proably was there durring the early 1849's. It was so old that the wasp nest had relocated to a lower level. We go in put our names up on the chalk board to play some pool sit at the bar and get a couple of Budwisers long necks. The bar tender comes over and begins rattling off all these jokes, he is wearing me out from all this wealth of humor. The only one I got out of all of 'em was , "What do you call a smart blonde?" Oh dang, now I forgot how it went!!!

a Dream Or Is It Real?

The journey begins and take me into a magical and mysterious land. Winding my way thru the "Narrows" and as I reach the top of the hill a thin blanket of fog rises up from the water and bay. The houseboats seem to float above the water suspended only by the tranquil translucence. I glance over at my partner, oblivious to our entering into Avalon, we drive into the night of fog. As we get closer to our destination I can see the peaks of the mountains off in the distance surrounded by layers of fog. The road disappears from view and for all I know we are traveling on air, not asphalt. Pulling up to our stop, my helper gets out and unlocks the door to the abyss. I get out of the truck and I'm greeted by three small deers, who are curious as to what I've brought to eat that night and if I'll share with them. Of course I will does any of you like spaghetti, how about an old burrito, oh and don't forget I always have a left over chocolate donut from yesterday which one of you three wants that thing?

Oh! What a needed and well earned break that was in Vegas. We even came home with $$$$ !!! ok $0.50. but Hey! it's still money!!! Before venturing out onto the dance floor, wait erase that the casino floor I watched a few lessons on different gaming so after watching Roulette for the third time I felt I was full of knowledge and ready to take Las Vegas by SKY!!! Memo to self: Listening and watching never hurts, the pain of "Winning" is sooo much more pleasurable. "OH OH OH Give me the Money! OH Yessss!" Roulette Dealer to Sky, "Oh, You know what your doing"! Sky to Dealer, "Me, why do you mean me Sir"? (snatches up the chips and steps away from the table) and I ain't talking Doritiots here.*** We went out to the Best place to shoot pool in Las Vegas, the Cue Club, 5*****'s the staff is friendly and very helpful, I highly recommend this if you're into pool . I sooo wanted to go see Rita Rudder over at Harrah's, we were right next door at the Imperal Palace. Damnit Michael I wish I'd known. Paging Philip Morris!!! Ok, so that was pretty much it a little RnR, and a lot of Bloody Marys, and some steak , cornbread and Iced Tea. I hope everyone is doing alright I saw the weather channel and the weather is crazy. My friend , Pete, sent me this picture of this butterfly and I totally have forgotten which type of butterfly. I think I should go and check on Tennesse I put him out in the back yard when I came home this morning, he's proably wondering if I have forgotten him too!!! Well, if he gets hungry enough there are plenty of weeds he could munch on, earnning one's keep is a good thing! He should enjoy being outside in the sun as it's not always sunny in the back yard durring this time of year. Today was very nice , maybe it made it to 60 I'm not certain as I have just woke up and there is still sun in the backyard. Gawd! Last year at this time I was whinning about how it wouldn't stop rainning. Floods, landslides you name it all last year at this time. It's nice to work w/o your clothes being soaking wet and the water sloshing in your shoes. I don't even mind the cold it's been down in the low 30's at night, puts on my ear muffs, yes they are "Flamming Hot Pink"!

nothing and everything all at the same time. I am sick as in stuck on the couch surrounded by a box of tissuses and juices. Everything aches even joints that I didn't know that I had hurts. I'm infected, I got the bug. I knew once it started raining I'd be the first one to test the bug out. Yup, you don't want it, go and get your flu shots. I'll be back in a few days , right now M. is taking me to the doctor to get some real medicine to hopefully knock this out of me.

And now it's ever so much closer to 2525 ; Humans Living far Beyond Planet's Means, by the year 2050 the Fish will be depleted because of pollution and over fishing; Plastic and other crap confusing fish and marine life as to wheter it's food or not. Africa brearing the brunt of the global warming, Bush admin. ain't doing nuthing to reduce toxic pollution. I wonder will we still be alive in the year 2525? Already we're seeing the Earth warm up by 1 degree Fahrenheit by the year 2100 it will be 10 degrees hotter. The last few days left in October were really great. Here's a sunset, I don't know if you can see the two otters that climbed up on the rocks to catch the setting sun. I didn't want to leave the beach, but I knew the minute that sun disappeared it'd be really dark .

I found this flipping through the "Writer's Yearbook" from 1975. You know if it was our child, our pet, our spouse trying to tell us something we'd listen and do whatever it took to get them well, right? Earth has been trying to tell us she isn't feeling good. So what can I do to make Earth better? To start remember to recycle, reuse and replant. If by some chance you haven't gotten your Halloween outfit together, make one there's plenty of ideas in and around your home and besides being creative is alot more fun and interesting. You also burn some calories applying your brain and the running around making that costume. I thought I'd share this as I've noticed that my hayfever seems to be lasting longer each year. I may be crazy but it seems like with the longer rain seasons all of a sudden every plant bloomed at the same time extending my allergies.

So, with the next four nights I will testing out my new ride. I do hope all goes well for Halloween night, sometimes you don't want to wait untill that all important trip and then find out that there might be some sort of flaw just waiting to happen, and you know that if it can go wrong it will. Supposely, I'm to get more miles per the straw now that would be sweep opps, I meant sweet. I truly miss my old Fuller broom, lots of stories on that one, I have one of these new electric brooms now better for the enviroment the salesman told me. Well I'd better go now and polish and wax my handle wouldn't want a splinter.

part 4 A Halloween Story

Cautiously we stepped inside the door all the while holding on to each others shirt tail. We were never so shocked as this next moment. There was a stage and four skeletons on it doing a song and dance, (I kid you not) I looked over at Gilbert "What did they just say?" Gilbert looked at me and starting laughing, "They are singing "We are family, I got all my peacies with me". For real? For real, I swear said Gilbert. Then the Master of Cermonines came back on stage , "Now here's a fellow whose been working on this number for a few centuries,dang I introduce him every year and this year I forgot his name... Hey! It's your turn! " So the curtain goes up and there's this coffin and this Vampire is singing "I ain't kissing you no more". Marsha looks at me and whispers are we in some sort of twilight zone? I don't know maybe , maybe American Idol gone bad, I can't tell. Finally the show ends and there 's music playing and dancing from every room in the house , are you ready ? Yup they were getting down to "Thriller" . They said it was the best video ever and no other video has ever topped it. I was just glad I woke up and that the wooden stake I found in my bed had missed it's mark...................................... Happy Halloween...................

I felt like there was someone watching me but I never did see anyone, the goosebumps on my arms had turned purple. Gilbert said that the temperature had gone from 60 * down to 40*. The front yard was filling up with fog and it wasn't wet and sticking to anything. It seemed like we'd been there forever and we weren't even inside yet. I looked around for Ribsy he was nowhere to be found, wandering off from the other two lead me to the front door. Ribsy was there making barking motions but no sound was coming from his mouth and all of his hair all over his body from tail to ears was standing straight up. Marsha and Gilbert joined me on the steps just as the front door swung open. "Come on in we've been expecting you"

Gilbert suggested that we recheck our supplies one more time. Ok, I shrugged , proably would be a good idea to refresh our memory on what we brought with us. Any stall for time was welcomed as I had suddenly developed a serious case of cold feet. Marsha wasn't pushing to go in either, usually she'd be the first to make a dare. After openning the canvas bag with the big "G" on it that he borrowed from his Mom, Gilbert began showing us all the contents. Flashlights, rope,first aide kit, and a bunch of other odds and ends. We each had a canteen of water. I looked at my watch, 4 o'clock, "You guys we need to get serious if we really going in there, it's getting a bit windy ". Marsha looked around, "How come it's only windy on this side of the street?" "Huh, Gilbert looked up from his stash of stuff, what do you mean?" I guess I wasn't thinking when I replied, "Oh you know like it only rains on one side of the street Gilbert, you've seen it do that well why couldn't it just be windy on one side of the street." Marsha said something to the effect that there was a wall keeping the wind on this side. Leaving our bikes by the gas street lamp we marched forward into the unknown. The wind began to feel cool on our arms and with the next step Marsha screamed..........................

A Halloween Story

It was late October, the Saturday before Halloween. My best friend Gilbert and his sister Marsha and I had decided to go and check out the old Fields House. No one had lived in that house for years, the yard was overgrown with weeds and the fence was in serious need of repair. We got on our bikes and dicussed how we would approach the house. Marsha had a pink schwinn with a bell, and her brother Gilbert had a red one with a horn , flags and baseball cards in the spokes. Mine was just a plain old bike with with tires that had real gas station air in them. We rolled backed in forth in the driveway plotting out our path and decided who would go up to the house first. My dog Ribsy, ( as I was a big fan of Beverbly Cleary books) was catching a sun napp while awaiting the call to "Let's Ride". Gilbert was doing the math, why was beyond me the way I saw it was either let's go or don't go. Gilbert was a genius . Meanwhile Marsha had gotten off her bike and began picking my Mom's Forget Me Not's. I looked over at her and asked her not to do that as my Mom would kill me later when she found out. Gilbert announced that he had the map drawn up and this is the way we should go. I took one look at the map and threw it back at him. It took you that long to figure out that we leave the driveway and go up the street cut thru the baseball park and go over the railroad tracks and circle around the block to the back yard? Marsha shhh me and got on her bike;"Let's go". Marsha took the middle and Gilbert and I were on the outsides, Ribsy ran ahead of us. We reached the backyard to the Fields House and stopped dead in our tracks.

Remember "Sweet Pea" ? Well, here are her first born pods, I named them Gordon and Gilbey, (gee I havn't a clue what was on my mind) . The chair is Larreta's and those are some of her high heel collection. Anything for the baby. Shortly after the pictures were taken; they were promptly tasted, yumm, I love home grown veggies. As Summer begins to drift slowly down the river, I reflect on what a wonderful time I've had this year. I've met and made new friends from all around the globe. I renewed some friendships that I was afraid it might have been to late to save. We still have our Indian Summer to come and it will proably be hotter than it was durring June/ July or August. We're about to enter Mark Twain climate; "the hottest summer was a winter in San Francisco." So slowly I bid goodbye to Summer.

I know she would if she only could go shopping for us. We wouldn't have to worry about her breaking the bank account! I mean how much could she really fit into that shopping cart? Oh! I'm dreaming again. Meanwhile "Life's a Beach".
That is if we could only get to it! Some days are a walk in the sand and other days are rocky from the instance you get up. Take today for example, I come home announce to the watch rabbit (Tennessee) that I'm home. I go to pick him up and let him run around outside and he jumps, sticks his foot in his water bowl, picks it up and throws it into his toy-box. Imagene my surprise at discovering that even rabbits wake up on the wrong side of the cage! I procede upstairs and go to let Laretta out and she too is in a fowl mood. What a day!

Greek Festival

One of the things we did over the Labor Day weekend was go down to Belmont for the Greek Festival. You could not have asked for better weather, a slight breeze, with the temps in the mid-80's. We arrived just in time to watch the brothers challenge each other to a table lifting contest, complete withouzo on top of the little baby chair. The lamb was to die for, mmm it just melted in your mouth and the pastries well I know I regained the ten pounds that I recently lost, (but well worth it).

Our Labor Day Cookout

This whole Summer has been non-stop and too much fun. Labor Day just happened to be one of those days that was perfect for cooking outside, who wants to be in a hot kitchen on a beautiful day. We had lemon chicken done on the grill along with baked potatoes and red bell pepper. uhmmmm,good and the naked ladies from the back yard.
